How to use GPS Navigation & Maps

GPS Navigation & Maps gives you access to maps. Wherever you go, you will have the great OpenStreetMap at your fingertips. And not just that: The new version includes a powerful turn-by-turn navigation to guide you to any desired destination. Read on to find out about the many ways in which GPS Navigation & Maps can aid you.
Please make sure that your device has clear and unobstructed view towards the sky during use, so you get the best GPS satellite reception possible. You should also keep your device charged as low battery leads to bad GPS reception.
Online or offline usage
As the app caches (saves) a certain amount of map data, you can also use it offline for map areas that you have visited previously. In order to use the map offline without restrictions, you can opt to purchase additional maps via in-app purchases - for more information see "Map data > Upgrades".
Main menu
You can enter the main menu at any time by clicking on the main menu icon in the top-left corner.
Closing the app

GPS Navigation & Maps will go anywhere with you. And the best part: It will even tell you how to get there. Discover GPS Navigation & Maps' full-fledged turn-by-turn navigation. In this mode, the app will follow your position on the map and provide visual and spoken advice to guide you to your destination.
Navigate from the map
Navigating from the map screen is easy: When you tap and hold a position on the screen, a popup-menu with details for the location will appear. Tapping the round arrow icon will create a route to that point starting from your current position.

This allows you to only carry only the maps that you really need while avoiding unnecessary waste of storage space. Pressing 'Restore' brings back your previous purchases.
When downloading maps, make sure your device has a wifi-connection. Some of the maps are bigger in size and, depending on your plan and provider, might result in higher phone charges if you download them via a data connection.
