Hyperion

Hyperion orbits Saturn just beyond Titan at an average distance of 920,000 miles (1,480,000 km) from Saturn, with an orbital period of 21.3 days.

Hyperion is one of the largest irregularly-shaped natural satellites in the solar system, with dimensions of 223 x 174 x 140 miles (360 x 280 x 225 km). It is likely that Hyperion's irregular shape is the result of meteor bombardment. Hyperion tumbles chaotically rather than rotating regularly; its rotation period varies from one orbit to the next. This is probably due to a recent collision. The Cassini spacecraft showed Hyperion to be a strange, spongy-looking body with dark-floored craters that speckle its surface. Hyperion's reddish surface closely matches the color of the dark material on Iapetus. Its interior is thought to be highly porous, with a structure like a loose rubble pile.
