To scan new document:

Important: please read the OCR tips section before using this app for the first time.

1. On the app's main menu, tap "From camera." To use SureScan mode, tap "SureScan (3x)."

To open an image from the iPhone's library instead, tap "From album."

2. Take a single picture of your document. (In SureScan mode, take three pictures). Processing starts automatically.

3. If edge detection was not successful, the "Adjust document frame" screen appears. Adjust the frame by dragging the corners to match the corners of your document. When finished, tap "Done."

4. On the Preview screen, adjust brightness, rotation, and color mode. Use rotation to make you text HORIZONTAL for OCR. The color mode button cycles through three states:

B/W: for monochrome document processing;

Color: for color documents;

Photo: for color photographs.

When finished, tap "Next."

5. At this point you can either send/save the image of your document or scan it with OCR. To send the document, tap the action (Arrow”) icon at the bottom. To start OCR, tap “OCR!”.

6. After the OCR is done, you can edit your text by tapping the “Penicon at the bottom. To rename your text, tap Rename” on the editing screen.

7. To add more text from additional pages (or rescan the current page), tap the “Plusicon at the bottom. You'll need to repeat the scanning process for all additional pages.

8. After the OCR is done, the action menu has more choices. You can send the scanned text as a PDF or plain-text file using the "Email to myself" feature, email the image and text with the regular email function, or copy your text to the clipboard.

You can also use “Open in...” function to open your document in other apps like the free Dropbox or Evernote app. (You can send your document to a “cloud” from those apps.)

Note: emails are not sent by the app directly, but instead are queued for sending by the standard Mail app. Emailing large attachments may take some time. In case of error sending mail we recommend that you restart your iPhone and check the “Out” folder in the Mail app.

Note that the app can create and send fully searchable PDFs of document images (by including embedded keywords). If you need a searchable PDF with only the image, scan your document with OCR and choose Action > “Image and text...” > “PDF + text file” or choose Open in...” > “Open PDF with image”.

9. Tap"Main" to return to the main menu.

Auto-remove line breaks:

To help the recognized text fit neatly onto different-sized pages, you can enable "Auto-remove line breaks" in Settings.

Browsing the archive:

All your OCR scans are automatically saved as text documents in the built-in archive. To open a scan, just tap its title in the list on the main page. (Note that the app does not save document images in archive.)

You can edit your scan (or rename it) by tapping the Pen” icon. Tap the Action icon to send your scan via email, copy to clipboard, or delete.

Delete a saved scan simply by swiping over the document title in the list.

Adding more text to saved scan:

To add more OCR text to an existing scan, select it in the list, tap the Plus” icon and select OCR more text”.

Uploading archived files to your desktop computer:

You can upload your saved text files to your desktop computer using iTunes program and its File Sharing feature. To do that:

1. Run iTunes, connect your iPhone, and select your phone's icon on the left panel.

2. Select Apps at the top and find the File Sharing section. Select TurboScan+OCR, find the TextArchive folder to the right, and select it.

3. Click Save As. The folder containing all your text data (.txt files) will be copied to your computer.
