Wake Up allows your iPhone/iPad/iPod touch to turn on or wake up computers and other devices on your network or over the Internet. Designed for easy use, Wake Up scans your LAN for automatic configuration (your computer MUST be configured to allow Wake-On-Lan).
Setup
To setup computers or other devices that you want to wake, follow these steps.
- Tap the + icon to add a new device.
- For convenience select "Scan LAN for devices" to automatically find devices on your local network.
- From the list of devices found, select devices that you may wish to wake and press "Save".
- Devices can also be added manually by selecting "Manually add a device".
- Device settings can be modified by selecting the device from the list of Current Devices.
- Once configured, the Overview screen will display the configured devices and will send the Wake-On-Lan magic packet upon pressing the "Wake" button.
Note: this App requires some knowledge about enabling Wake-On-Lan for each device which may require OS and BIOS configuration options. Please see wikipedia article "Wake-on-LAN" for additional information.
Setting Up Remote Internet Wake
There are additional conditions required to enable remote WOL:
- You must know the internet address of your router. If you don't own a reachable or fixed internet address you may need to use a service such as DYNDNS (http://www.dyndns.org).
- Your router must be configured to forward WOL "magic packets" to the device IP address and know the port that is forwarded to the device you wish to wake up. Wake up defaults to UDP port 9.
- The wake device must be capable of WOL and configured correctly.
To configure Wake Up to send remote internet wake packets, follow these steps.
- Tap the + icon to modify or add a device.
- Select the device from the list of Current Devices or add a new device as described in local devices.
- From the Connection Settings, select "Via Internet".
- In the Hostname field enter the IP address or Internet host name for your internet address.
- Enter the port number of the UDP port that the router is configured to forward to your device to wake.
- Once configured, the Overview screen will display the devices that have been configured for remote internet wake and will send the Wake-On-Lan packet to the router upon pressing the "Wake" button.
Note: Please refer to your router documentation for information on configuring your router properly.
