It's highly recommended to read this manual for professional usage. Additionally, you can report a bug, ask any question or make a suggestion at http://djplayer.net/page/bug_report_fixes.
DJ PLAYER is designed for the professional DJ booth, this is the reason of the multi-screen layout, big and simple controls. Continously developed since 2008, it's not just a mobile application, but a DJing platform with high standards in audio quality, stability and usability.
This application is CPU intensive. For best performance please close all multitasking-enabled apps running in the background: double tap on the home button to view the currently running apps list, tap and hold on any icon to get the "close" controls. It's also recommended to turn off automatic e-mail fetch and push notifications.
Please check "Mono Audio" in your device's settings (General->Accessibility), it should be off.
DJ PLAYER can output audio in the background while you're using another app: so you can play with an instrument or sampler while your mix is running for example. Please note that not every audio application can "play together", some apps require exclusive audio output and automatically pauses the playback of this app.
DJ PLAYER uses your iPod library, but you can import tracks from different sources as well. Tap "import" on the tracks screen to display the import screen with instructions included. You can pre-analyze your tracks there too.
It also reads the Traktor and Serato cue points + bpm info stored in the audio files. If you have a track tagged by both softwares, you can set the preferred one on the settings screen.
Modes to use with a hardware mixer: "Classic Club" is just one deck, the headphone connector is the full stereo output. Example usage: two iOS devices running this application, connected to a hardware mixer. The second option is "Double Deck", where headphone left and right are separate decks.
Split Headphone modes: your device has only 1 stereo output, which limits it's usage as a DJing device: there is no way to connect extra headphones for prelistening (PFL/cueing). The stereo output's left side is the master output of the internal mixer, right side is for prelistening. It's necessary to use our Split Cable Adapter in these modes. Please check how to order at http://djplayer.net.
"Home" and "Club Master" modes: a true digital revolution! You can use 2 stereo outputs, one stereo output is the headphone out, the other stereo output is transmitted via WiFi to another device running the NetOut application (check "All DJ Apps").
If you tap the not active A or B button, then it switches to that deck. If you tap an active A or B button, then it switches to the previous screen. It's quite intuitive, practice it for a minute!
You can also use gestures on the iPad to "slide" between the effects, player and mixer screens: slide with your finger from the frame (outside of the screen) towards the center.
The timeline bar (between the time displays and the track title) reflects your track's full duration. Tap on any point and the deck will immediately jump to that position. When a track is paused you can use the FRM buttons to position precisely, or move the waveform display with your finger (available only if the Vinyl Vision is already generated).
The "Vinyl Vision" displays the track's structure, similar to a Vinyl record. This gives you a better overview compared to a waveform display, but you can switch it to a waveform too (on the "Settings" screen).
Automatic BPM works only if a Vinyl Vision is calculated. If you accidentally changed the BPM value for a track, then you can re-run automatic BPM detection using the "auto" button. You can find it on the BPM part of the effects (FX) screen.
If you have a track loaded on both decks and the BPM value is known for both tracks, then the Sync button will automatically adjust the actual deck's tempo to match BPMs.
The app also broadcasts and receives the current BPM value over the local WiFi network or Bluetooth, so you can sync between different devices.
On a deck screen, tap the pitch fader's bar before or after the pitch fader head to change direction.
The mixer screen has 2 modes, "adjust" and "mix". You can use the mix mode only if you've a track loaded to a deck.
In adjust mode the eq section has a +/- 6db range, to adjust the overall sound of the track only - not for effects or mixing. In mix mode the eq section has a 0db to minus infinity range, for effects and mixing purposes. There is a hidden kill switch below each eq fader in this mode.
Please don't gain your track's level above 0 db to allow headroom for mixing and effects. Digital distortion is much worse than analog!
A lot things are customizable using the settings screen (you can find the "settings" button on the tracks screen). All changes are immediate and live, so you can change it anytime, even in the middle of your set!
