General Connection Setup

To connect to Files Pro, your iPhone and Mac or PC must be connected to the same network. The iPhone must be connected via Wifi, the Mac or PC can be connected via Wifi or ethernet cable etc.

Alternatively, if you have iOS 3.2 or later, you can connect to Files Pro via USB using iTunes File Sharing.

Files Pro URL

You'll need to know the correct WebDAV URL to connect to Files Pro. The current URL can be displayed by tapping the green button on the left-hand side of the toolbar in Files Pro. Note that the button will turn orange if the iPhone is not connected to a Wifi network.

Your current URL is

{CURRENT_URL}

Bonjour

From Mac OS X, and from Windows with Apple's Bonjour software installed, it's possible to connect using your iPhone's Bonjour network name.

Your current Bonjour URL is

{CURRENT_URL}

For example, if your iPhone is named "John's iPhone" in iTunes, then its Bonjour WebDAV URL will be:

http://Johns-iPhone.local

Using the Bonjour based URL has the advantage that it is unlikely to change (unless you change the name of your device in iTunes). The IP address based URL will change if your iPhone's Wifi address changes.

Checking the Network Connection

To check that your iPhone is correctly set up on your local network enter the Files Pro URL into a web browser. If the connection is ok a page listing the documents stored in Files Pro will be displayed.

If the page doesn't load check that:

The Root Folder is Readonly

When connecting via web browser or WebDAV client the root folder is readonly. To upload or access your documents open the "Documents" or "Public" folder.

Prevent Sleep

Generally, active connections to Files Pro will keep your iPhone awake. However if you do find that long transfers are failing due to sleep problems you can switch Prevent Sleep on in Files Pro' settings. This will prevent the iPhone from ever entering sleep mode automatically. Note that it's advisable to only switch Prevent Sleep on when necessary to avoid battery drain.
